The project story

From a local need to shared action.

This project targeted vulnerable families living in the Lighthouse area of Finima, a rural community in Bonny Island. Many residents—both young and old—lack access to basic clothing and footwear. In partnership with Chrismilia International School, the Rotary Club of Bonny Island provided essential clothing items and shoes to support their dignity, comfort, and daily living. This initiative strengthened community welfare and contributed to improving local economic well-being by reducing the financial burden on low-income households. Simultaneously, the club carried out an education support initiative aimed at improving school attendance, comfort, and safety for children in the Lighthouse Community by providing essential school items such as footwear, raincoats, and rain boots, particularly during the rainy season. By addressing practical barriers caused by inadequate protective gear, the project created a safer and more supportive learning environment, encouraging consistent school attendance, reducing weather-related absenteeism, and promoting overall child well-being.
